Who is Ximilnet?
Hello, I'm Ximilnet.
I'm not an IT professional by trade, but a passionate self-taught enthusiast. My journey into the homelab world started with a simple frustration: the rising costs of subscriptions like Spotify and Netflix. I thought to myself, "It would be pretty cool to host all of this at home."
That curiosity led me to discover Proxmox. I bought a used Dell Optiplex 7040 MT — the classic, highly coveted machine among homelab beginners — and started tinkering in September 2024. Two years later, what started as a small project has become a daily passion.
Along the way, I realized how hard it is to find exact, step-by-step tutorials that actually work and show the full picture. That's why I created Ximilnet. I want to share what I've learned, demystify self-hosting, and show that you don't need to be a sysadmin to own your data.
